Why
Should I Have Travel Insurance?
There are
many reasons why you should take out cover. You are at risk of
disease or accident or illness in many foreign
destinations, if you are going to participate in sports, you run the
risk of a sports related injury. Many countries do not have a
National Health Service and you could find yourself with a large
bill. If you have to be flown home in an emergency, your travel
insurance will cover that (please check policy details first
though).
If you are a
victim of crime or the local wine - ie you lose your
wallet/passport! Your travel insurance will often provide you with
emergency cash. If you are in a country such as India where police
help may be limited. Your travel insurer may be the best bet for
help.
Another event
that can really mess up your holiday is lost luggage. We have
all heard the tales. What do you do if you land at Malaga Airport
and your luggage does not appear on the carousel for collection. You
are all keyed up for this great holiday, but you have no clothes,
toiletries and even your suncream was in your suitcase. Most
policies have an option to cover luggage loss/damage. It is often an
"extra" on your policy though.
Another thing
that can ruin your dream holiday and cost you plenty is if you have
to cancel your holiday before you even leave the UK. Cancellation
cover is often included on your policy and it again adds to that
peace of mind. If you have booked your holiday well in advance. Who
knows what the future may hold? You may be ill, your children may be
ill or calamitous events may prevent you from catching that plane!
This is a summary
of what your travel Insurance can offer you. BUT PLEASE CHECK
YOUR POLICY DETAILS BEFORE ASSUMING YOU ARE COVERED FOR ANY EVENT.
